Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and noted they would have ânothing more to add at this timeâ.
Claims Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five yearsâ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
