Netflix Casts Perfect Performer for Bentham in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a beloved, popular member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bentham. This character can use their power to change into an exact copy of any person they’ve touched with their main hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a version of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and animated series.

Escola is joined by a number of fresh additions tasked with bringing the group to reality, featuring head Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who is also part of the lineup as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Although the role is a major member of the organization, the character won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Given season 2 set to cover the Little Garden segment, this marks a major departure in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate more adjustments to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the character. Besides their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for writing and starring in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
