Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Coach Chris Wilder

The striker is now a member of Sheffield United only seven months after starting derogatory chants aimed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has put pen to paper on a agreement with the second-tier strugglers until January. Bamford's lengthy spell with Leeds concluded by mutual consent in August.

One of the player's final notable acts while at Leeds involved leading abusive songs regarding Wilder amid Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Now, the former England player will feature under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to pull his beloved club out of the relegation zone.

Past Conflict Between Bamford & the Manager

Both men had previous conflict before Leeds moved up back to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the promotion decider by Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured automatic promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

Everything appears to have been resolved with United, the league's lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost up front while Bamford looking to revive his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely this spring. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Spoke with Patrick recently and I’ve no issue whatsoever with that. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and respected him giving me a call.

“We spent a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke too and had a half-hour chat with him and he's a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we used to dish it out and take it and that is an integral part of football at every level, even on Sunday league. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”
