Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend following the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they start the search of hiring a new head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to pay any compensation.
