The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to return for the upcoming Hunger Games series instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
An Important Reunion for Fans
Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their roles will probably be featured in a future-set scene, as the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth film in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's events are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the menacing President Snow.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
