The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for celebrating violence and insanity with equal excitement, all while presenting gripping, socially charged stories. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two producers whose projects have exemplified all of those qualities.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by having a different setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from season to season, while always delving into the nature of society through this intricate and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and present our shared bold, ambitious approach to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
