Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a suspected irritant spray led to people being hurt at London's Heathrow Airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and charges for deploying a toxic agent, as confirmed by court officials.

This legal action stems from an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their luggage stolen after exiting a car park lift, according to law enforcement.

A young child was one of the people hurt during the incident. Five people required hospital care and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – which authorities stated was isolated and not considered a terror-related act – resulted in train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
