Over 100 hundred million people, including at minimum 15 million youth, presently employ e-cigarettes, propelling a new trend of nicotine dependency, according to latest worldwide health findings.

Vaping devices are fueling a "new wave" of nicotine addiction, commented a leading health official. "They are advertised as damage limitation but, in reality, are ensnaring kids on nicotine at younger ages and threaten weakening years of improvement."

Teens Being 'Targeted'

"Millions of citizens are stopping, or refraining from tobacco use due to tobacco regulation measures by states across the planet," the representative stated.

"As an answer to this significant advancement, the tobacco business is fighting back with new nicotine products, forcefully targeting young people. Governments must act quicker and more vigorously in applying established tobacco-control policies," the official continued.

The vaping numbers are a projection since some nations - 109 in total, and many in Africa and Asian regions - do not gather data.

Per the report, as of February this year, at bare minimum 86 million e-cigarette individuals were mature individuals, mostly in wealthy states.

And at least 15 million adolescents aged 13 and 15 currently vape, per research from 123 states.

Although numerous nations have made efforts to establish e-cigarette rules to tackle underage vaping in recent years, by the end of 2024, 62 nations still had no measure in place, and 74 countries had no age limit at which e-cigarettes may be acquired, reports the health body.

At the same time, tobacco usage has been dropping - from an estimated 1.38 billion individuals in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.

Prevalence of tobacco usage among females dropped the greatest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.

Among men, the drop was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.

But a fifth of mature individuals globally yet consumes tobacco.

Smoking is connected to several illnesses, like cancer.

Professionals claim vaping is significantly less harmful than tobacco products, and can assist you quit smoking. It is discouraged for non-smokers.

E-cigarettes do not burn tobacco and do not produce tar or toxic gas, a pair of the most dangerous elements in tobacco fumes. They have nicotine, which may be addictive.
